Eagles in FH victory
BRUNSWICK — The Mt. Ararat and Brunswick high school field hockey squads closed out their respective regular seasons Friday with the visiting Eagles notching a 2-0 win.
Mt. Ararat improved to 5-6-3, while the Dragons are 5-8-1.
Mt. Ararat led in shots 12-1 and penalty corners 12-9, with goaltender Raven Demasi making one save. Abby Theberge had 10 stops for Brunswick.
Hayley LaPointe converted a Meghan Carr feed with 8:56 remaining in the first half, and Ally Raymond scored off a LaPointe assist with six seconds remaining in the first half.
Mt. Ararat is ranked fifth in Eastern Maine Class A and is tentativley scheduled to travel to Cony for a quarterfinal clash. Brunswick is ranked 10th.
Physical Therapy 5K slated for Oct. 18
BRUNSWICK — The 20th annual Physical Therapy 8K road race is scheduled to be held on Oct. 18 at Brunswick High School.
Registration opens at 7:30 a.m. the morning of the race. The cost is $15, with the race set to begin at 9 a.m.

New England HOF’s Maines to be roasted
BATH — Longtime Morse High School basketball coach Tom Maines, who will be inducted into the New England Hall of Fame today, will be roasted at the Bath Country Club on Oct. 17.
Basketball coaching staff members, players, parents, families, support staff and loyal spectators are invited to attend the event, which begins at 5 p.m. with happy hour and appetizers, followed by the roast at 6:30 p.m.
Mt. Ararat hosts AV cross country
TOPSHAM — The Brunswick Junior High School boys and the Mt. Ararat Middle School girls both took home top honors at the weekly Andy Valley League cross country meet, held on Wednesday on the 1.86-mile course in Topsham.
Leading the way individually were Mt. Ararat’s Nate Mackenzie and Olivia Swan. Mackenzie covered the 3K distance in 11:44 while Swan did so in 13:03.
The Brunswick JH boys won with 36 total points and were paced by Keenan Welzel in second, Walter Martin in fifth, Jacob Hunter in sixth, Josh Clark in 11th and Hunter Caron in 12th.
The Mt. Ararat boys took second in the team score with 50 points. Rounding out its top five were Matt Gott in third, Tyler Brady in 10th, Shea Nelson in 13th and Adam Smith in 26th.
For the Mt. Ararat girls, Emmie Cox was second, Kelly Lynch third, Allicia Caterina fifth and Bailey Sullivan in seventh.
For Brunswick, Tiffany Tanner was fourth, Brooke Escoe sixth, Anna Turner eighth, Sabrina Levesque ninth, and Lena Martin in 10th. The next AVL meet will be Wednesday at Bath.
Lisbon footballers lose to Boothbay
LISBON FALLS — the Lisbon seventh- and eighth-grade football team lost to Boothbay 37-22 in recent action.
Jordan Torres was a big part of the Lisbon offense with eight carries for 122 yards, and had an 80 yard kick-off return. Jacob Johnston made a standout block to spring Torres to score.
Kyle Bourget passed six times with two completions for 26 yards, including a touchdown pass to Quincy Thompson.
Josh Collier did a good job for the defense, with three tackles, three assists, and a fumble recovery. Jordan Glover had five tackles and five assists.
Mt. Ararat 7th boys get past Bath
TOPSHAM — The Mt. Ararat Eagles faced the Bath seventh-grade soccer team Thursday in Topsham for the second of three meetings this season. It was a nice fall afternoon for soccer.
The Eagles jumped out to an early lead and did not look back. Robbie Small led the team with four goals. Josh Saxton and Avery Desjardins each contributed three goals each. Trevor Mayo added a pair of scores and single tallies were netted by Kiefer Cundy and Ben Bishop.
Jon Roux , Mike Crawford and Andrew McCracken combined for the shutout as keepers.
Kenny Stimpson, Devon Drew, and Ben Bishop were solid on defense. Tyler O’Connor, Grier Ostermann Dan Pelletier and Ben Ambrose also were stellar on defense.
Mt. Ararat improved to 7-0 on the year and next faces Bath on Wednesday in Bath at 4:45 p.m.

TOPSHAM — On Thursday afternoon, the Mt. Ararat Middle School seventh-grade grade girls soccer team came away with a 10-0 win against Bath.
Katie Labbay, Michaela Lewia and Lauren Williams each scored two goals, while Christine Levesque, Libby Ouellette, Michelle Pelletier and Becca Schuman each added one.
Pelletier also shared goal keeping duties with Erika Everett. Also playing well on defense were Laurel Streeter, Logan Hudson and Amy Roux.
The Eagles are now 6-0-1 on the season and will be traveling to Bath on Wednesday.
Clement, Husson soccer now 10-3
POULTNEY, Vt. — The Husson College women’s soccer team (10-3) rolled past Green Mountain College 5-0 on Saturday
Junior Megan Clement of Brunswick had an unassisted goal in the 10th minute and that was all the visitors needed.
Husson improved to 10-3 (3-0, NAC), while the Eagles fall to 3-6-1 (2-1-1).
Husson outshot GMC 22-0, while holding a commanding 11-1 advantage on corner kicks.
Last week, Husson blanked St. Joseph’s. In the win, Clement had two assists.
She now had five goals and three assists.
